Movement, not motivation — building stretch into the day
The most reliable wellbeing programmes are the ones nobody has to think about. Lessons from teams who made movement automatic.
Wellbeing programmes that depend on willpower fail quietly. The teams who succeed at building movement into the working day do it by removing the decision — they make the right thing the easy thing.
Walking meetings on the diary by default. A printer one floor up rather than next to the desk. A two-minute stand-and-stretch cue at the top of every hour, run by the calendar rather than a colleague. None of these read as a programme. All of them produce a measurable change in sedentary minutes per day.
If your wellbeing initiative is asking people to remember to move, it is asking the wrong thing. Redesign the environment so the movement happens whether anyone is paying attention or not. That is where the durable wins live.
