Designing the home office your team actually deserves
Risers, external keyboards, lighting, light. The small disciplines that turn a kitchen-table workstation into a sustainable one.
Hybrid is not going away, and the kitchen-table workstation is now a permanent piece of your business's risk picture. The good news is the fix is small and inexpensive when it is done thoughtfully.
The four things that make the largest difference, in order: a laptop riser to bring the screen to eye height; an external keyboard and mouse so the shoulders can drop; a chair with usable lumbar support, even if it is not branded; and natural light from the side rather than behind. None of these need to be expensive. All of them need to be matched to the person.
We run remote home-office reviews by video — twenty minutes per person, a written summary, and a kit recommendation tied to a budget you set. Most teams come out the other side with workstations that no longer punish them at the end of the day.
